Woodland creatures flip over mini album

I just loved Fabscraps woodland creatures range it is adorable, although my daughter is 18yrs old when she saw this little flip over mini album she fell in love with it and has been begging me to have it (Im still deciding I love it too).
I used two pieces of chipboard for the base and then plain cardstock for the 'pages'. I fussy cut out a lot of the images from the papers and added them with some flowers etc to the pages.
I am still busy with the tutorial but as soon as its finished I will post it. Here is a sneak peak video.

Happy crafting everyone!

Baby mini album with a twist

Here is a little mini that I created using the Fabscraps sweet baby collection.
I used a pair of baby shoes as the cover for my little mini album. This would be perfect for those special little baby shoes you saved (if you saved them) unfortunately I never saved any of my kids baby shoes so these are a pair that I bought.
I added the little bears to the inside of the shoes as a little extra interest.

The album isn't very big so it can really only hold small pics or journaling. Although if you used a bigger pair of shoes you could make the album a little bigger.
I created an accordian style mini using plain blue card stock then covered each of the pages with a different patterned paper (front and back). There isn't a lot of room for embellishments but I added some buttons and some of the images that I fussy cut from the paper line.
Once I was done embellishing I glued the first and last pages of the mini album to the shoes. Then added a few decorations to the outside of the shoes and of course the little bears into the shoes.

Sweet baby layout

Hi everyone, its been awhile since I last posted and I do apologise. We are in the process of moving from our small town into the big city, so its been back and forwards to Johannesburg (an hour and a half drive each way) trying to find a house and organise our daughters studying for next year. However I have been crafting in between all of this I just havent had alot of time to post things.

Here is a layout I created for Fabscraps using their sweet baby collection.

I used one of my fabric hand made flowers again, I just love using them on layouts!
For the full tutorial on how I created the layout and the products I used head over to the Fabscraps blog lovefromfabscraps.blogspot.co.za

Altered Fairy Tin

Hi all, its been a couple of weeks since I have had a chance to post anything, its been a little crazy around here with my youngest writing her final exams for Grade 12 as well as the fact that we are planning on moving into Johannesburg which is about a 2 hour drive from where we are now, so it makes looking for a new home quite a challenge. However I have been crafting in between and look forward to sharing my new projects with you. In the meantime though I thought I would share a project I did a little while ago for Fabscraps, but wasn't allowed to post as they were publishing it in our South African scrap magazine called Scrap Affairs.
I used one of those Maya Road tins that you used to get chipboard pieces in I think (I have had it for awhile) I painted it with black gesso and added lots of texture with texture paste, micro beads etc. I used the Fabscraps Floral Dreams Collection papers, I fussy cut out loads of the vines and flowers from the papers as well as the fairy. I layered them on top of each other and used foam tape to lift some of the pieces. I painted and textured the chipboard lattice pieces and attached them to the sides of the tin. The tin stands on 2 spools which I painted and covered with some of the papers too.
Heres a look at the back of the tin.

This pic is taken at an angle so you can see a little of the dimension.

A closer look at the top of the tin.
I have a tutorial on how I altered the tin and all the materials etc. that I used if you are interested leave me a comment and I will mail it to you.
Till next time, J

Shabby Rose Tag

Last post for today I promise, we have once again (big sigh) been having trouble with our internet being incredibly slow which makes uploading (or downloading) anything a nightmare, so today it seems to be co-operating which is why I am posting all my projects quickly.

Here is a tag that I made using the Shabby Rose collection by Fabscraps again (we get 2 sheets of each of the papers in our design team boxes but I went out and bought I few more sheets of each as soon as they hit my local scrapbook store) I just love these papers.

Its just a simple quick tag that I made I intend to use it in a mini album I am making (yes I know ANOTHER mini album, but I really just cant help myself these days).
I distressed and aged a chipboard key that we got in our DT pack and added some lace and roses from my stash, the hinge I cut from the paper and then added a metal corner to the top which I also painted a bit, you can find the full tutorial on Fabscraps blog - lovefromfabscraps.blogspot.co.za

Mother Earth collection Card

Here are some pics of a card I made for one of my design team projects, Im not particularly fond of making cards, I think its because I am always making them in a rush either for someone else who just 'quickly' needs a card or for myself because I forgot to buy one!
But I must say I rather enjoyed making this one, I even made the flowers on the card!

Now I must say I think the papers had alot to do with my enjoyment in making this card, these are some of the papers from Fabscraps Mother Earth collection and I just loved the faded backgrounds and then the reds and greens of the berrys!
Can you believe with all the boxes of flowers that I have in my stash I just couldnt find anything to work with the card, so I decided to make my own flower, I layered a flat black flower behind it and then a vine die cut and a small doiley from my stash.
Once again if you would like to see the full tutorial with all the products, measurements etc you can find it on Fabscraps blog.

An Altered Embroidery Hoop

Found some embroidery hoops on sale when I was out shopping with my sister in law, so of course I had to buy a few. I used one small one on a canvas and then decided to alter these two to hang on the wall of my craft room. The photo is one of my favourites of my kids taken in 2014.

I used the Fabscraps Shabby Rose collection papers and some flowers I had in my stash. There is a full tutorial on Fabscraps blog - lovefromfabscraps.blogspot.co.za

A Travel Folio using the Fabscraps Journey in Time collection.
This was one of my DT projects for Fabscraps, I love making mini albums and this one really was fun to make. My daughter has already claimed it as hers and plans to use it for her matric vacation photos.
This is the back of the album and I apologise for the pics being up side down but my lap top is giving me endless problems and really wont allow me to rotate any of my photos!

and then here are a few photos of the little embellishments that I used in the album

You can find the full tutorial for this album on Fabscraps blog
lovefromfabscraps.blogspot.co.za and type in Travel Folio and hopefully it will take you to the full tutorial.

Bird cage mini albumfor FABSCRAPS Design team

Here's another mini album (I know another mini album but I just cant help myself) this one I put into a beautiful bird cage I got from a friend for my birthday,

Oh my word dont know what happened there all the pics are on their side, but you get the idea hopefully.

Here's the tutorial  for the mini album and some pics of  the album itself (hopefully they are all the right way round)

Bird Cage Mini Album – Jeanine de Bruyn

A mini ablum made using the Fabscraps C86 range

Requirements-
2 sheets of C86 003(Natures garden)
2 sheets of C86 002 (Botanical Bulb)
1 sheet of C86 001
1 sheet of C86 004
Sticker sheet ST86 001
6 Square envelopes (mine were 16 x16cm)
2piecesof chipboard for the cover of the album
Cream, Brown and Green cardstock.
Lace, Ribbon and Embellishments of your choice.

Directions-
I started by cutting off the envelope flaps then cutting off 1cm from the left side and 1 cm from the top of each of my envelopes these will be the pages for your mini album.
To make the binding I cut 5 pieces measuring 3 cm across x 15cm down, I used the C86 002 paper. I then scored each piece at 1cm mark and then again at 2cm mark and folded them. You should have 5 pieces that resemble hinges now, attach them to each other (see attached photos).

To bind the album glue the envelopes to the binding pieces you have made, they should slide into the open side of each envelopes(see attached picture).
For the cover of the album, I painted the edges of the chipboard pieces black then covered 1 of the pieces with the C86 002 paper and the other piece with C86 001.
I then glued the back of 1 of my chipboard pieces (C86002 on) to my first envelope and the back of the last chipboard piece (C86 001 on) to the last envelope. Now your cover is attached to the album.

To make the flaps on the pages, you will need a piece of patterned paper of your choice measuring 14cm across and 12cm down. On the 12cm side score it at 2cm, then fold on the score line. Add glue to the front and back of the 2cm piece and slide it into the top of your envelope, now you have your flap, I only made 2 flaps in my album.

Cover each of your pages with patterned paper and embellish as desired.
I distressed and chalked all of my papers before glueing them to my envelopes, I cut my papers a little smaller than the envelopes so that a piece of the envelope still showed.
I fussy cut a lot of the images from the papers and stamped and embossed butterflys and doileys onto vellum then cut them out and used them to embellish my pages. This is also a nice way to use up all those bits and pieces of lace, ribbon, stickers  etc. that you have left over from other projects.
I have a short video on which I explain how I decorated each of the pages as well as the front cover.
You can also get a better idea of what I did from the attached photos.
Hope you have fun creating your own mini album

Penelopee Dee Blooming Fields mini album

I am quite fortunate to design for Retha Brookes Scrapcats Den kit club every month, usually its a double page layout but every so often she has a bonus mini album kit. This month I got the amazing new papers from Penelopee Dee - Blooming fields range to create with. What a pleasure it was to work with these papers it made designing the mini album so easy and alot of fun.

Each of my pages has a pocket in the side so you can add extra photos (pictured above). I again stamped onto vellum and glued the butterflys to the side of my photo mats to make it easier to pull them out of the pockets.
