Matric Farewell layout using Primas Rossibelle papers

Hi everyone, I have a double page layout to share with you today that I created a couple of weeks ago using pictures of my daughters Matric Farewell. In South Africa the Matric Farewell is a very big deal girls plan their dresses, hair, nails etc for from grade 10 already.  In fact we had to book the hairdresser, beauticians and so on 6 months before the dance just to make sure she got a spot. My daughter is very artsy and had a specific idea of what she wanted her dress to look like she wanted something a little vintage/bohemian but elegant at the same time (tall order). We started looking in her grade 11 year for a dress but just couldn't find anything. Eventually in the July vacation of her matric year (a month and a half before the dance) we knew it was time to get serous! My mom flew up to Johannesburg from Durban and my daughter and I drove through to meet her, we booked ourselves into a hotel and began shopping. I
t was 2 VERY looooong days of trying on dress after dress until we eventually had it narrowed down to two dresses, one fit her original idea of the vintage/bohemian look and the other was completely different in fact my mom had to insist she try it on and when she did she fell in love with it! eventually she went with my moms choice of dress and I must say she looked stunning!

For my layout I decided to use the Rossibelle paper collection from Prima, as I liked the vintage/elegant feel of the paper. I tore up some of it and cut out some of the elements from the Rossibelle Nostalgic paper. I also used a bit of paint etc, to give it a mixed media feel. And of course lots of flowers.
and here are some close ups of the clusters and all my fussy cutting.

I absolutely loved how my page turned out in the end, it took a lot of time and playing around but I loved every minute of it!

Playing with Cheetahs

Hello everyone, I think I mentioned in my previous post that we took a trip in December to Haartebeespoort where one of the many things we did was play with cheetahs. Now one of the few great things about living in South Africa is that we can have these encounters with many different animals. We have been fortunate enough to 'play' (and I use that term loosely 'cos you don't really play with them they play with you, you spend most of your time trying to get them to stop chewing on your shoes, jeans, toes and just about any other part of you they can get to)with tiger cubs, lion cubs, a baby Rhino, Serval cubs and even a baby crocodile, but my favourite by far was with the adult cheetahs. As we walked towards them they started purring and rubbing themselves against us, my son was petting one of them and when he pulled his hand away the cheetah wrapped his paw around my sons arm and would not let him go, so my son spent a good 15 more minutes petting him until the cheetah had had enough and let him go.

Call from the wild altered tin and mini album

Hi everyone here is an altered tin that I created from an old biscuit tin that I had lying around. I painted the entire tin with black gesso then covered the front, back and sides with papers from Fabscraps Calls of the Wild Collection.
On the inside of the lid I created a little pocket also from the paper collection to hold memorabilia. I covered the inside of the tin again with the same papers and then decorated a Fabscraps Mini album that came with the paper collection to go inside of the tin.
To decorate the front of the tin I used some of the chipboard pieces from Fabscraps and some more of the papers from the collection. I added a handle to the top of the box.
I intend to add photos of a trip we took over December to Hartebeespoort where we got to play with Cheetahs and visit some very interesting places.
Will post pics of the mini album once I have all of my photos etc, added.

Lavender Breeze mini shadow box album

When I got my DT package from Fabscraps earlier this year I was absolutely thrilled with the new paper ranges (I love all of Fabscraps papers, but these ranges are my favourite). One of these ranges is the Lavender Breeze Collection, and when I saw it I knew immediately what I was going to create with it! And here it is a Shadow Box mini album.....

There is a full tutorial on the Fabscraps blog too and some more photo's.

It really is a beautiful range and if you can get your hands on it I suggest you stock up on the entire range as there really isn't anything in this collection that isn't a must have!

Im back

Hi everyone, its been an absolute age since I was last able to post on here. We moved at the end of Dec beginning of Jan into Johannesburg and so it was the whole unpacking etc. and as luck would have it we weren't even in the new place for 2 weeks before we were broken into and mine and my daughters laptop were stolen. So then it was the endless wait for the insurance to payout and to get a new laptop. But there is always something to be thankful for in these situations - we were in the house asleep at the time of the break in and by Gods grace none of us were hurt, my laptop was quite old and had been playing up for awhile, freezing all the time and taking forever to download anything, my daughter has started studying animation and needed a new laptop for her studies, so in essence the thief actually did us a favour!

Woodland creatures flip over mini album

I just loved Fabscraps woodland creatures range it is adorable, although my daughter is 18yrs old when she saw this little flip over mini album she fell in love with it and has been begging me to have it (Im still deciding I love it too).
I used two pieces of chipboard for the base and then plain cardstock for the 'pages'. I fussy cut out a lot of the images from the papers and added them with some flowers etc to the pages.
I am still busy with the tutorial but as soon as its finished I will post it. Here is a sneak peak video.

Happy crafting everyone!
